“Move the Bridge, Save the Park” Fundraiser Tours
Guests arrived, small talk got underway, and motorized kayaks were set up to begin a Halpatiokee Trails “Move the Bridge, Save the Park” fundraiser tour. After a brief orientation, 9 kayaks hit the water and the magical journey was underway. Amanda Thompson, environmental educator and the guest guide speaker, was masterful in her presentation of the many and varied types of flora and fauna present in the Evans Creek oxbow.  From discussions about mangrove trees to witnessing wild ospreys in this undisturbed natural setting, guests were treated to an educational, historic and fun morning on the water.

We want to thank Amanda and all of our guests for attending this important fundraiser and for their generous donations. Planning for the 2nd fundraiser is underway and will be repeated monthly or more often, depending on turnout. Date and times will be announced shortly on the Conservation Alliance and Motorized Kayak Adventures websites, Facebook pages for Conservation Alliance and Motorized Kayak Adventures, and in the TCPalm Community Event Calendar. You can also call 772.380.6815 for more information about the fundraiser tours.

As a reminder about why this fundraiser is so important, Conservation Alliance is leading the effort to prevent the construction of the Crosstown Bridge through the proposed Route 1C, which would irreparably damage this pristine and undisturbed natural ecosystem.  Please join Conservation Alliance, Indian Riverkeeper, River Warriors, St. Lucie Indian River Kidz and other citizen groups in the fight to Move the Bridge and Save the Park.
